Uniformed Groups

At St Mary’s we have a full range of uniformed groups for both the scouting and guiding movements. The groups meet in the community hall, attached to the church. The groups are sponsored by St Mary's but all young people are welcome to join, they don't have to be members of the church. All the Groups attend Church Parade, which is usually on the 4th Sunday of each month at the 5pm Saints Alive service. The groups also take an active role in both the church’s annual Summer Fair and Christmas Fair.

All of the groups have dedicated leaders who find working with these units very rewarding and enjoyable. However there is a constant need for leaders and some of the groups are in desperate need of extra help. Unfortunately if there are not enough leaders, units may have to close. Please pray for the young people and the leaders.

The Guide Association Units and the Scout Group maintain and run a 17 seater Mini Bus (all drivers have received training). They take part in lots of fundraising events in order to support this. The main source of income is the Waste Paper Collection, bags of which can be brought to meetings. The Scouts also arrange a house-to-house collection of paper and are looking for people to help. If you would be willing to help please contact Chris Till.
